Fault Line

Such a small boat for such a large ego

What was it that made you think you would never sink?

Funny how the waves, so soft and still, can throw you into an abyss

All it takes is for one bullet to miss

Shot from the gun of the heart

I hold the key to this hole

I should’ve known from the start

Protection is needed for this fragile soul

Amidst the blue backdrop of my surroundings I hear a voice

All too quickly it becomes nothing but clamoring noise

The waves beat upon my weary soul

I have found no place to call home

And it is all of my fault

This shaky ground rests on my fault line

If it were possible to swim in emotion

I’d be drowning
