Weekend Coffee Share: Drop Beats. Not Bombs.

“Drop beats. Not Bombs.” -Abe Lincoln

Or something like that.

I found that quote on a random passerby’s t-shirt today and it’s marvellously magnificent. The shirt also contained a picture with the Abe-ster carrying a legit boombox. In fact, I have located said image inside of the deep recesses of the interweb. Do enjoy…

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that it’s been a crazy few days in my world. I’m not going to “apologize” or ask forgiveness for not being around lately, though, as some are prone to do. I mean, if that’s your thing then by all means. I find it a bit tacky/desperate but that’s just me. 🙂

I will say, however, that I’ve missed writing but it has been nice taking a few days “off.” Here’s what I’ve been up to lately…

1.) The school I work for, and the one I graduated from, took a tubing trip on Saturday. They do this kind of event each semester but ironically I was never able to attend during my tenure as a student. Only fitting that I graduate and then find the availability to go.

It was actually incredibly relaxing…except for that time when I walked/pulled our group through a few miles of shallow water. Tubing is always a hit or miss venture. Also a “hit or miss” is my ability to walk in rocky water. I can only imagine that I fell and busted my butt a dozen or more times. My ankles certainly hate me.

2.) Sunday was a regular day but still busy, nonetheless. I spent the morning at church, the afternoon cleaning and playing music, and then the evening at a live rendition of Disney’s Tarzan. The cast did a pretty great job of bringing the animated movie to the theatre stage and it was cool singing some of Phil Collins’ masterpieces!

3.) Today began my travel season for work. I’m currently writing to you in a hotel room after spending the entire day in college fairs and school visits. I began my day at about 6a and have been going ever since. I genuinely love travelling and it’s been pretty cool driving the back roads of North Carolina. This is the first week of twelve and if I’m honest, as excited as I am to see new places, I’m equally worried.

I travel alone. There’s another recruiter but he’s working his own circuit and we will rarely cross paths. I don’t mind being alone from time to time but I’m typically an extrovert. I’ve spent much of the day singing, rapping, or praying. An odd collection, I know, but it got me through. I won’t be gone every week but when I am on the road, I’m typically gone the entire week with a short break in between each section.

I say all of that to say, I’m worried about being lonely. I’m worried that life back home will move on without me. It’s still a struggle adjusting to graduated life. I suppose this will be of benefit for me but that’s what I’m feelin’ today so there ya have it.

There are a few other things on my mind but I’m trying to leave those up to prayer. Keep me in yours?

How’s everyone doing? Glad for another week? Ready for the weekend?

Here’s a picture of what my mental state will soon be like as a parting gift:

  1. Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this
site. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s challenging to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual appeal.
I must say that you’ve done a superb job with this.
In addition, the blog loads super quick for me on Opera.
    Exceptional Blog!

  2. Oooh, tubing, sounds fun! You’re right about hit and miss, I’ve gone times when it was incredibly relaxing and another time I about killed my fool self.

Good luck with your travels. I do hope you find yourself able to stay connected and not feel lonely ❤
