I’m Fine

Silenced by love, Deafened by the noise.

I can’t escape, I can’t run away.

Everyone here seems so calm…

Am I the only one who can’t breathe?

~

These wolves go for my throat.

I’m bleeding out, I can’t scream for help.

Would anyone help me if they heard?

Would anyone come if I cried?

~

We all know you’re living in silence;

Sheltered by a lie.

You’ve never seen death.

I’ll save your breath: I’m fine.

~

I will be here on the edge of this cliff tonight

I won’t fall, I won’t break.

I’ve been here before, I’ve seen the light of day.

Trust me when I say, “I’m fine”

~

Ashes call my name, I know I’ll be safe

From all of you wolves in sheep’s clothing.

How can I trust what you say

When there’s blood all over your face?

~

We all see right through your lie.

There’s nowhere to hide.

~

Where does my help come from?

My help comes from above.

I lift my eyes to the one who took my shame.

I’m not ok.

~

I will be here on the edge of this cliff tonight.

I won’t fall, I won’t break,

‘Cuz I’ve been here before and I’ve seen the light of day.

Trust me when I say, “I’ll be fine.”

  2. I really enjoyed the subtly upbeat tone present in this poem of yours. It is quite inspiring, as it suggests that with enough determination and strength of character it can sometimes be all you need to see out a bad day without making impulsive decisions or buying into depressive thoughts.

    1. Indeed, my friend. Indeed. Praise God for His strength. Some days we simply have to exist through the day.
