Knocking…

Your presence draws nearer…

I see you clearly now.

Your mouth is full of lies,

Your eyes wreak of promise.

I know that I should resist,

I can’t help it.

I stare out of the window and watch you creep,

Ever closer, ever more sad.

Your figure indistinguishable

Yet I remember your frame.

Footprints impress themselves on the leaves below

My heart beating faster.

I don’t want you here,

But, please, come in.

Stay awhile.

Make yourself at home.

The steady patter of approaching death resounds on the wood.

It stops…My breathing the only sound.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Enter my nightmare.
